More Ways to Make Money

Many non-profit organizations routinely receive grant money from large Foundations such as the Animal Charities of America Federation and its member organizations or from state and local Community Funds.

The United Way makes it possible for military and federal employees to give to various charities of their choice through Combined Federal Campaigns, or CFCs.

Based in Alexandria, Virginia, this non-profit works with hundreds of local United Way offices throughout the country in a coalition of charitable organizations to pool efforts in fundraising and support. Search this page  for "animals" to find the non-profits. You can also search for charities on this website.  See left column for types of charities such as animal/wildlife protection or environmental protection

For instance, the HSUS's CFC number is 11894.  HSUS also pays HEP Development Services for research materials and database information like this Matching Gift Resources Register  for employers who will match their employees' donations. Type an "A" in the search box to see 6,471 companies and corporations that can be set up to make matching fund donations to HSUS via this service.

You can find the entire 2008 list of CFCs at this link in either MS Word or MS Excel formats.

The following is a partial list of Animal and Environmental non-profits. We have run across many of these on our treks through the web and no doubt we will learn more about others in the future.
